For instance, as you are exploring the Resort, it is not unusual to see ladies in Maldivian garb sweeping up pathways with coconut leaves, or drawing water from deep natural wells to fill up beautifully crafted water pots.

 
 

A Grassroots Experience

If you are lucky, you may even hear the commanding call of a Sangu, summoning the island’s inhabitants to gather for work, pleasure, or both. Catch a boatbuilder at work as he puts the finishing touches on a dhoni, or experience unbridled exuberance at play, personified in the joyous enthusiasm of participants in the traditional team sport, bai bala.

How to get there

Loama Resort Maldives at Maamigili is situated on Maamigili Island within Raa Atoll. The Resort can be reached via; scenic 50-minute seaplane ride from the capital Malé or 25-minute domestic flight from Malé to Irufu Domestic Airport followed by a short 15-minute speedboat ride.


Seaplane journey is approximately US$480 per person for a two way flight, while the Domestic Flight and Speedboat transfer is presently priced at US$350 per person for a two way flight/transfer. These prices are subject to changes.
